Perth: King’s Park!

State War Memorial

In our 6 short days in Perth, we went to King’s Park twice. The first time was with the tour guide, who only gave us 1 hour to explore the place. Oh, come on, just 1 hour to walk around a park that is larger than Central Park in New York? To be honest the whole walk around the trails and scenery watching thing thing was HECTIC. And it’s not supposed to be! That made me so fed up. The skies were so clear and the warm sun beating on my face accompanied by gentle winds blew and I thought to myself, I can actually stay here the whole freaking day taking my own sweet time to walk around and ENJOY the place instead of consistently checking my watch to make sure we’ll go back to the meeting place on time.

The mere thought of not being able to do things at my own pace just drives me crazy.

And so my aunts decided to make it up to me by going to that place again on Day 5, which is our free day. No guides, no itinerary, nothing. So, yeah, although a part of me thinks we could be going somewhere else instead of visiting the park AGAIN, the weather’s kind of nice and the ducks took their ducklings out to play, so the ungrateful bastard side of me decided to go away and just enjoy the peace and serenity. It was lovely, laying on the grass and seeing ducklings walk pass you occasionally.

I love King’s Park. I love how the birds and the bees and the ducks can roam around the place freely and safely and be around people, who doesn’t seem to be dishevelled or disturbed by the sight of them at all. This environment is shared and every single living or non-living thing belongs here. I love how the spacious fields are so clean and green, and you can just lie down on the soft grass and not worry if you’ll land on something gross and nasty. Surprisingly, given this environment, I don’t even see any cleaners around to for this place to be the way it is. I guess people just have the responsibility in themselves to clean up before they go, because they like how it is and want to maintain the cleanliness. Because it’s their park. Because it’s everyone’s park.

Dear King’s Park, I’ll see you again soon! Wait for me!

Glimpse of the past.

A week ago I went to walk on the KTM railway tracks that will be dismantled and returned back to Malaysia. It’s kinda a bittersweet thing seeing my grandpa walking along the tracks and looking at little little things around, deep in thought. Well and of course I did take pictures. This should be one of the things that have stayed on and accompanied Singapore as it grew and flourshed and changed. The Padang stadium is gonna be gone soon(or has it already been destroyed?), and now this place that is history rich will also have to make way for further advancements of Singapore.

I wonder who is the one who decides which things to keep, and which to ‘sacrifice’. How do they make decisions like these? What are the things they consider before making a final decision? I would really like to know about it, to be honest. I just feel they are taking away and destroying parts of Singapore’s history. It’s kind of sad, thinking that the next generation would not be able to see these historical monuments(?) and places of Singapore just because it is too small and if they don’t make way there will be no land for more skyscapers and development.

But I really do hope they keep at least a small portion of the tracks… just like the Berlin Wall in Germany? They actually did keep a part of it right? If it carries so much meaning to the folks and the developing country, wouldn’t it be an awesome sight to still see something significant from the past as the country grow?

Oh my, I think I should just carry on with the pictures. I don’t think I know what I’m saying either. Sometimes I feel I suck at expressing my feelings. Ugh.

And here’s to national day related things trending on twitter WORLDWIDE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINGAPORE I LOVE YOU NO MATTER WHAT! (even if you really removed ALL the tracks.)

Where did all the rain come from?!

Seriously it has been raining in Singapore since Saturday night and hasn’t stopped ever since. I wonder where all the rain came from and where it will all go after descending down on earth.

Was late for class, I was so bonkers wearing covered shoes on a rainy day, but was lucky enough that my school’s not flooding! For the first time ever!

So I reached my class and here’s what I saw outside. Seems like I’m the only one without an umbrella today!

Field Trip!

leave a comment »

It’s my 4th field trip within less than 10 days! Sometimes I really think my choice of coming to Early Childhood Education is really a right choice. I’m doing what I like, and having fun, and get to relive my childhood life(minus the assignments of course!). Well, it’s already better than my others friends who are doing their A levels or in business school where competitions are always hard.

Well, whatever the case, it’s always good to make the best out of every situation you meet!

Going Through...

We’re going to West Coast Park tomorrow to observe and of course play with the outdoor playground there. This picture is the previous visit there with the girls in T02, where we watched the sunset and camwhored. If I didn’t remember wrongly, it should be the last day of semester 1. Ahhh I can’t wait for Year 1 to be over and the vacations to come~~
